‘The Elite Guard’ is going to be a spin-off about Ryder’s guards/brothers. We don’t know much yet but the fact is that the book is about Ristan’s own story. I hope we’ll get an update soon enough to discover more. A book following Ristan is freaking exciting because he is the coolest demon ever, thank you very much.

[Review] Escaping Destiny by Amelia Hutchins

I thought things couldn’t get worse. I was wrong.

I found out what I really wanted and was forced to give him up. Just as I found out who I really am, I was presented to the elusive Horde King as a gift.

This was the mystical being I was hidden from for more than twenty years.

Although Ryder promised to save me, I couldn’t let him get near this creature, so I willingly (sort of) signed myself over to be his new plaything.

Now in the Horde Realm, nothing is going remotely like I thought it would.

My powers and emotions are on the fritz, and each day seems to bring surprises that I am not sure how to deal with.

The Horde King thinks he has me exactly where he wants me. He thinks he has taken all of my options away.

I still have choices.

Embracing what destiny has planned for me, or escaping it.

“I still have choices. Embracing what destiny has planned for me, or escaping it!”

I was sure that the third book would be the best book. 4.5 stars this time!
The plot was as expected mindblowing and the characters grew on me even more. I feel like I am already having a book hangover. I can’t take the world that Mrs. Hutchins created out of my mind; I even dreamt about it last night because I was so into the book.

She is great at describing emotions and feelings and of course the amazing scenery that Faery was supposed to have. I wish I could live there, visiting all these amazing places. In book three we got to know more about Faery and about Fae traditions and behavior the bad way just like poor Syn did. She was through a lot and yet she found the strenght to go against destiny and prove to anyone who doubted her that she is not some weak damsel in distress but an amazing warrior goddess who can protect the people she loves.

I am glad that all characters are actually appealing to me, well except the villains of course. I hate reading books with characters I dislike because it makes finishing the book difficult to me. Ryder kind of annoyed me at first but thank god he changed for his own good. Ristan is still the same amazing, hot, smartass demon I love and I need to know more about him!

Anyway other than that, the sex was steamy, the annoying repeat of thoughts stopped and I don’t think there’s anything left that would bother me now. Off to read book number four.

[Monday’s Top 5] Favorite male characters and how they look like in my mind

monday's top 5 icon

Well, deciding my favorite male characters was actually really hard for me. I don’t easily favor a character and to find 5 of them was like a challenge to me.

I also had the need to show to the world how I believe they look like which is also pretty hard, right? When you read a book, you imagine the looks of a character based on what you read but I am sure that everyone has a different image in their mind.

So here is my list of favorite characters, the reason why I love them and how they look like inside my head.

no5

Ristan – The Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins

This is actually how the author, Amelia Hutchins, imagined Ristan and I am so so so satisfied with the picture.

Why I love Ristan?

Besides his obviously incredible looks, since the very beginning Ristan showed us signs of his good heart and his intelligence. He appeared to be loyal, loving and caring towards his friends and siblings and that’s something I truly appreciate. Sadly, he was not a main character and we didn’t have the chance to know more about his love life and how he treats his women but from what I gathered from the books, he respects women even if they betray him or wrong him. His humour is unbelievable and he knows how to use it in order to cheer up someone. He is always ready to fight for his beliefs and he doesn’t give up easily. His heart and body are both strong, precious and deserve to be loved by anyone.

no4

Gabriel Merrick – Elemental (series) by Brigid Kemmerer.

As far as I remember Gabriel has dark hair and perfect blue eyes. In general stunning and strong looks. The pic I found closer to the one I had in my mind was this one.

Why I love Gabriel?

Among five brothers he is the most damaged one and even if he did some wrong and bad things, the support from his family helped him realize what brotherly love really is and that made him a better person. It’s really important to me, to be able to admit your mistakes and to understand how important family is. Gabriel used to be the player of the school but that wasn’t what he really wanted. After meeting his current girlfriend, he realized how superior he really was and that he deserved better than being just another jerk. He learnt how to love deeply and be a good friend. He learnt how to fight for a better life and not just give up. Who doesn’t love a guy who learns through love and trust? Who doesn’t love a guy who was ready to give his life for weaker people? Plus, his life ambition is to become a firefighter. If that’s not perfection, the what is?Read More »

[Review] Taunting Destiny by Amelia Hutchins

aboutthebook icon

I thought things were bad and weird before—hold on—it’s getting worse.

Adam and I are both going through identity crises of epic proportions as we Transition from who we were, and discover who we were meant to be. More Fae are dying, and I feel as if time is running out for us to find all of those responsible and put an end to the killings.

The people I thought I could trust have betrayed me and the one person I should absolutely not trust; is taking me deeper and deeper into his world.

Ryder’s secrets are dangerous and devastating.

With each touch and word, he pulls my heart closer to himself and at the same time he is trying to keep me at arm’s length. The dance he and I have begun, is getting more complicated as our worlds are being shaken from all sides, and the visions of the future are frightening, and nothing like I had ever pictured for myself or those I care for.

This time, destiny is taunting me.

I had always thought that I controlled my destiny. Now, my rights are being taken from me by powerful people and leaving me with alternatives that range between bad and awful.

This time, the choices I have to make can decide the fate of both worlds.

Everything is unraveling, and nothing will ever be the same again.

So I am not the kind of person who would real ‘quality’ books and make reviews about how deep the book is or how wrong or right the characters acted or about how stereotypical or not I find it. I am a hopeless romantic girl, reading all kind of romantic books and I just rate based on how the book made me feel. Besides I can’t easily express myself in a language which is not my mother language.
I don’t even know why I started reading the series and why I like the story so much.

I need to be fair so 4 stars it is.

It was better than the first book in every way I can think of. The plot was more than intriguing, the characters were appealing and so realistic; I swear that I never thought their reactions were fake or unreasonable. Plot twists were coming one after the other and I just couldn’t snap off of it. I found the dose of romance that I needed in order to keep reading it and I also even enjoyed all the sex scenes without skipping like I did with the first book.

I picked a favorite character, Ristan, who easily grew on me and as expected from me he is absolutely no main character. When this happens, I know instantly how good the author is. She managed to make me like someone who had less part in the plot and was less described than others. Anyway I won’t repeat myself, I’ve analyzed how much I love Amelia’s writing style in Fighting Destiny’s review. My only objection still is her abuse of the word ‘fuck’ and her tend on repeating herself every now and then.

Other than that the book was amazingly good and I expect more from the third book which will probably have a higher rating. I have a feeling about this!
