I am not sure why but End of Days was easier to read than the two first books of the series. Maybe it’s because of the gory scenes they had. This one had a lot of action but not that freaky action. I was indeed freaked out at some point but it was ok.

So I’ve said before that I prefer past tense in books but I like Susan’s writing style. I like how she passes from dialogue to information and from information to Penryn’s thoughts. It’s not complicated and it’s easy to understand what’s what! I thoroughly dislike confusing books and I appreciate simplicity.

Penryn is far from the teenage girl she used to be; she is finally a warrior. She was a survivor but she became more than that because she had to fight for mankind besides her family. That’s huge, okay? You can’t expect a 17-year-old to actually lead an army and yet she managed to surprise them all. Give it up for Penryn! I am also glad that her mom and Paige didn’t abandoned her just like Penryn never gave up on them.

Raffe was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! He was exactly the way I hoped he could be. My only objection was that his behavior to Penryn changed rapidly. I get why he was protective and all but woah, dude, calm your tits. In book one and two he was barely talking to Penryn and the only time he showed real feelings was when he thought Penryn was dead. I think it was too abrupt but hell, I enjoyed it more than I should have so I am not complaining. I am just mentioning that I noticed the sudden change.

Other than that, I think I needed more but I am ok with the book ending that way. I can get over it and life goes on and blah blah. Besides, I loved the series but I was never a hardcore fan. I am pretty satisfied and happy!

The sun is rising, giving the dark ocean a glow that shimmers with blue, gold and green. It’s a new day in the World After.”

The Wolrd After was a quick read for me, a good one. Despite the fact that it scared this shit out of me I enjoyed reading it. Yes it was dark, terrifying and kind of sick but it was picturing the world how it would indeed be. I can’t even begin to imagine how frightened I would be if that was my real world and how cowardly I would react. So that’s why I am so satisfied after reading it; every page was sending me waves of pride and courage.

Penryn felt scared to death and yet she somehow found the courage she needed. In this book she didn’t even have Raffe to help her defend herself and her family and she proved how strong she was. With a crazy, weird mother and a deadly sister this is not an easy thing anyway. And as expected we found out more about Raffe in this book even though I am still not satisfied because he seems like a really interesting character. I need to know more.

The writting style is still excellent and the descriptions still horrifying and Mrs. Ee also sends messages against bullying. Through Paige, Penryn’s mother and Clara and they way people treated them she succeds in showing how wrong that is and how some people even after an almost apocalypce they keep being mean and rude. Is this really how mankind is? I think it is, even though I have faith in humanity I still believe that not all people can be kind and understanding. That was why this book was realistic. There were traitors, selfish people and people who would kill others in order to survive without having to think twice.

A really amazing book but I need a break because some scenes traumatized me. I can’t afford nightmares, I hate them. So the third book will have to wait.

Oh, god, how should I begin reviewing this book?

4 out of five stars.

I chose to read this book because 80% of my friends rated this book with 4 or 5 stars and the reviews were so good. I wanted of course to read it and find out if it is indeed that good; and it is, THAT good!

Usually post-apocaliptic books don’t get my attention and I avoid this genre because of the religion stuff. I don’t want to be in the middle of the conflict about what’s accurate and what’s not and if it is appropriate. Anyway I absolutely don’t regret reading this one.

It was so well written and the descriptions were so detailed that they gave me chills. Seriously the images I got from that book will haunt me for a long time. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I don’t do well with gory scenes. But of course I have to praise Mrs. Ee because she made me feel like what I was reading was real and at some point I thought that if I would look outside my window everything would look exactly like the book. I was terrified and that’s a good thing I guess.

About our awesome female lead, Penryn. Wow, what a girl! She was strong, smart, brave and loyal and that’s everything I excpected her to be. Thank god I was not disappointed. Also, Raffe was cool enough even though I wanted to see more of him but I guess that’s why there are more books. I can’t have an oppinion about him yet because he was way too mysterious and quiet to judge.

Other than that I think it’s the best book of the genre and hopefully the best series.
