[Top 5 Monday] Favorite Novellas

I didn’t really read novellas because I thought that sometimes they’re a waste of time. Well I couldn’t be more wrong because when I read these five perfections Ι immediately regretted not reading novellas. Shame on me!

Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

A small intro for the great world about gargoyles and demons that Jennifer created. I liked it because it was something new to me and the story was absolutely adorable.

Dez wasn’t just Jasmine’s crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining the balance between good and evil. He was her everything…right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn’t help that Jas’s father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.

And now he’s back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn’t taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again…

Breathless (Elemental #2.5) by Brigid Kemmerer

This is also a small intro about what’s to follow. I think it should have been 3.5 instead of 2.5 because book number 3 is about Hunter and not Nick. But Hunter’s novella is 1.5 so it’s a bit confusing because book number 2 is about Gabriel. Anyway. Nick’s novella a.k.a Breathless was insanely enjoyable and shocking. I had my jaw dropped almost till the end. Brigid Kemmerer did a really great job and I think she is the only author that actually made me read every single novella in the series.

Too many secrets. Not enough time.

Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since it’s just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, that’s a survival tactic.

But now he’s got problems even his brothers can’t help him survive.

His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going quick as mercury from daring to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinn’s dancer friend Adam is throwing Nick off balance, forcing him to recognize a truth he’d rather shove back into the dark.

He can feel it—the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is starting to find out that sometimes nothing you do can keep the peace.

Oblivion (Lux #1.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

What? Are you surprised? Why? Second book in the top 5 from queen Jennifer? Just wait till number 1. So this would also have been ‘Shadows‘ instead of ‘Oblivion’ because Dawson’s and Beth’s story is awesome as well but it’s only natural to have a thing for Daemon, right? I mean, who doesn’t? Being inside his head is pure bliss.

Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can’t stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won’t just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen…

Consequence (Significance #4.5) by Shelly Crane

Caleb and Maggie will be forever and ever my favorite couple! Seriously, I am totally biased and obsessed with their love and I will ship them till the end of time.

aboutthebook icon

Maggie and Caleb are married, leaders of their people, parents to their children, and happier than they ever dreamed, even with the visions they saw of it to prove it so. The council is still rebelling against Maggie’s changes, but this time it’s different. It’s almost as if something…or someone is behind them, pulling the strings and making decisions for them.

And Maggie is having strange visions that only she can see, leaving Caleb helpless to help her. But when her visions start to warn her that their daughter, Ava, will one day be in danger, they’ll do anything it takes to find out what’s going on and how to stop it, even paying a visit to a previous Visionary.

Maggie and Caleb must find out who or what is behind it all and stop them before Maggie is one vision too late.

Elixir (Covenant #3.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Just one reason this is my number one. Aiden. ❤

If Aiden was real, he would be the love of my life. My sin, my sweet torture, my everything. Aiden is just the best character that has ever been written. Unfortunately here applies the ‘he is too good to be true’.

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

I think my obsession over Jennifer’s books is finally clear. What do you think? Have you read any of them? I think I should make a top 5 just about Jennifer’s books.

  1. Yes yes yes to JLA! ❤ I can't wait for Oblivion, I am currently reading White Hot Kiss and I have Half-Blood on my priority shelf waiting to be read. Count me in for any JLA appreciation feelings! 😀
